I wanted "Good Morning Life"
by Dean Martin to greet
you as you opened
this blog today.
That's the most
appropriate song to be playing
in the background of my
beautiful ordinary day today
(and I have to say, you can't get much more ordinary
than this particular day for me, but I love it!).
Have you seen the movie "Return To Me"?
Bonnie Hunt, Minnie Driver, guy from The X Files.
And also I believe it was the last movie
Carrol O'Connor made before he died.
Not to be confused with all those movies he's made
since he died.
It's a good movie, but I watched it recently
and was surprised at how many bad words are in it.
It's not a cuss fest, but it had a lot more
than I remembered.
Anyway, in that movie, the guy goes from
a grumpy widower to a happy man again at one point,
and they play that song
("Good Morning Life" by Dean Martin)
as he goes to work one morning,
delivering coffee to his co-workers.
It's such a happy tune.
I love that song.
But I couldn't find it on Playlist.
So you'll just have to live with Oliver
and his musical greeting to the day.

It has been a lovely morning here on the ranch so far.
I don't know what it is, unless perhaps it is the
warmth of the sunshine today---and that "warmth" is a
relative term. You know it's been
cold when I am through the
roof about the possibility of 40° temperatures!
But the sun just seems brighter,
warmer somehow today.
This morning I woke up with my eyes fully open
--this never happens with me. Lloyd Dobbler was still here
and he was wondering what the deal was with me.
Maybe I've undergone some kind of change.
Maybe I've become a morning person
(even if for one day only!).

Maybe it's just that thing that you get used to
messed up sleep and eventually you feel fully rested
after a few segments of interrupted sleep.
I don't know what it is.
I'm just saying I got up bright eyed and bushy tailed
(whatever that means!)
this morning and I've had a lovely time so far
with this very ordinary day.
This is the first full day on my own as
The Adult In Charge again.
Maybe that's what has me perked up.
But things are going smoothly. Everyone is
dressed. I've had a shower. Baby J is snoozing in his
bed. Lovely K and Big E are each playing alone in their
rooms. Sweet T is downstairs at the kitchen table with
the Legos he got for Christmas (and a CD of Sesame Street
classic songs playing in the
background--"Here's a song about Jelly Man Kelly...").
I'm supposed to be doing the checkbook
and making out bills right now because my mother
is coming over and we are going to go pay
the bills.....and I'll get to that in a minute.
I just wanted to tell you that
all is well here on the home front.
I am very encouraged today.
I feel like we're going to make it through this time
of recovery and transition.

Oh, good for you. New normal is gonna be great. Although, I'm not sure I can handle the whole morning person change. Please remember I am not :O)
