The Blind Leading The Blind

My kids are enjoying their days of leisure.
I told you we have plenty of time before we have to
return to the daily grind (school).
They have been watching a lot of Looney Tunes.

I was sitting in the same room with them earlier
while they watched a DVD of Looney Tunes. There was
this one, an old one, where they had all these old Hollywood
stars in the cartoon. There was Jimmy Stuart and Clark Gable
and Judy Garland and lots of ones that I didn't even
recognize. Anyway, this girl was trying to get the cartoon
version of Jimmy Stewart to dance with her.
When he finally got up from the table to dance with her,
he stuck this sign on their table that said,
"Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."
Of course you and I get that.
But my kids aren't old movie experts.

In years past, when the kids couldn't read,
they wouldn't have even given the sign a second thought.
When he did this (put the sign on the table),
Big E asked Lovely K,
"Does that mean he married her?"

And Lovely K, in all her wisdom, tried to explain.
"No, that doesn't mean they got married.
All men are called Mr. Smith."
She said it with such confidence and wisdom.
This caused me to laugh.
I don't know why I found it so amusing.
And then she corrected herself--
"All men are called "mister" whether
they are married or not."

You can learn so much from Looney Tunes.
